"I started plein air painting with a group of artists from Connecticut Women Artists over fifteen years ago. It was then that I started to use pastels as they were the easiest and most convenient to haul onto a site. Since then, I have continued my plein air work with a few friends and was one of the earliest members of the Connecticut Plein Air Painters Society."

Barbara Jenkins earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Painting from Benton Spruance and a Masters Degree in Art from Central Connecticut State University. In her award-winning artwork, she is drawn to paint the varied colors and textures to be found along the Massachusetts and Connecticut shoreline.
