"For many years I have been mostly a plein air painter. I love painting out in the open and the immediacy of what the light presents. As a representational artist, I am always attracted to the shapes, colors and movement in a scene…it is easy to get lost in them and a challenge to find visual balance and dialog. My goal is to paint a scene that conveys an idea or feeling…a visual narrative with the viewer. I want the viewer to see what I see.” Leibenhaut studied at Lyme Academy of Fine Art, Michigan State University, and Northern Michigan University. She is an elected artist member of Connecticut Women Artists, the Connecticut Plein Air Painters Society, and Plein Air Painters of Hawaii. Her work is widely collected; one of her pieces is included in the collection of the Connecticut River Museum. |
