Strongly influenced by the American Impressionist painters, Nelson is fascinated by the quality of light found along the New England coastline. A dedicated plein air painter, he strives to capture in his paintings all of nature's secrets.

He is an elected artist member of the Connecticut Plein Air Painters Society and Lyme Art Association.
