Jane Zisk is the Founder of the Connecticut Plein Air Painter’s Society. A plein air painter since 1990, Jane established the group in 1995 to promote fellowship between artists and to encourage outdoor painting. The rich history of landscape painting in Connecticut by such artists as Childe Hassam, J. Alden Weir, Frank Benson, John Twachtman and others was the inspiration for Ms. Zisk to continue this wonderful tradition. The home of Florence Griswold, which became the famous Old Lyme Art Colony, is only 30 minutes from Old Wethersfield where the artist lives. “My vision was to create a group of working artists for fellowship and to use the group format as a marketing tool. I was inspired by the American Impressionist movement in my home state of Connecticut and the beauty of the Connecticut River Valley.” |
