Mother and Child Drawing

DRAWING CLASS

Patricia Louise Corbett will be giving a 6-week drawing class starting Wednesday, April 10th at Maple & Main Gallery, One Maple Street, Chester 06412!

Regardless of whether you are a beginning or advanced artist, here is a practical and preliminary approach that will enhance your drawing skills and be fun at the same time. Reviewing and brushing up is an ongoing process. And drawing is the building-block for painting. We will start by understanding how to get the basic essence of a subject through gesture and quick studies using pencil, conte crayon, charcoal, and other basic media and move on from there. Contour or line drawing, values, light and shadow, negative space, and more will be covered in landscape sketches, still life and figure drawing.

Ms. Corbett started drawing at a very young age and continued to develop her technique with well-known artist, Sherrie McGraw. Ms. Corbetts artwork is on exhibit at Maple & Main Gallery, Chester, and can be viewed at the gallery or on its website: mapleandmaingallery.com

Wednesdays, 9:30am - noon, beginning April 10th; six weeks Cost: $95.
Supplies needed: sketch pad, small 4X6 sketch book, drawing pencils, soft eraser, charcoal and conte crayon.

Mr. Whisson will talk about his colorful, light-filled artwork and his career as an established painter of "modern impressionism".
An internationally recognized artist born and raised in the northern regions of Brisbane, Australia, Mr. Whisson was guided in art by his father, artist Eric Whisson, and held his first solo exhibition at the age of 24. Since then he has held more than 25 solo exhibitions and published many magazine articles, books and DVD’s, some of which are available in the Southbury library. Mr. Whisson will be in Connecticut that week to teach a four-day painting workshop at UCC as he aims to share the knowledge he has learned over the years as a painter of landscapes, figures and interiors with like-minded artists around the world.
There is no cost to attend the Thursday evening talk, but a freewill donation will be gratefully accepted. Guide to Visiting New Pond Farm Education Center A few tips and requests to make your visit to New Pond Farm safe and enjoyable!

Please feel free to enjoy the farm daily between dawn and dusk. We ask that you sign the Guest Book that will be located on the wooden podium by the main entrance to our Learning Center.

Rest rooms and water fountains are located in the Learning Center, which is on the left as you pull into our Farm Road with the two signs. Doors should be open between 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

Directions to the farm may be downloaded from our website: www.newpondfarm.org

Please beware of the electric fences and netting that crisscross the pastures and also surrounding our sheep. . Our dairy cows come up to the barnyard between 6:30 and 7 a.m. for morning milking, during the heat of the day they usually take refuge in the barn by the breeze of the large cow fans so they are difficult to see. The herd heads back out to pasture once the afternoon milking is done (around 4 p.m.) Please note that the cows will not be going out to pasture until the spring. We will have many calves in the spring-some will be in the upper paddock by the main barn and several of them will be in the first fenced-in pasture along the Farm Road.

Our flock of sheep will head out onto pasture in late April and rotates around Astronomy Hill and it is always easy to find.

Please do not go into the paddocks or fenced-in areas with the animals. Please do not feed the animals Please dispose of your trash in designated containers Sorry, no dogs are allowed
