For class offerings and enrollment information, please contact the Art Guild at www.glastonburyartguild.com or email the Art Guild at info@glastonburyartguild.com Watercolor from the Ground Up - This class offers basic techniques for the beginner to intermediate painter with emphasis on drawing skills and the foundations for creating a successful painting. The class begins with an instructor demonstration and a discussion of papers, paint brands, and brushes. Students will paint a variety of subjects from life. Pastel Beginnings – Explore the versatility of pastel - different supports and papers as well as a variety of block-in techniques including watercolor, acrylic, solvent, and direct pastel. Through demonstrations and practice, students gain experience and understanding of this popular medium. All levels are welcome. Courageous Watercolor - The instructor will unravel the myths and mysteries of this elusive medium and bring the subject down to size. Students learn how to design and plan the painting for the most beautiful result, how to load the brush, “drop-in” one color into another for the most intense effect, and how to keep freshness and vibrancy of color through the entire painting. Watercolor Landscape Plein Air Workshop - This workshop begins with a demonstration, emphasizing how to see the most basic forms in the landscape and reduce the complicated scene to simple masses. Learn how to choose the subject by how it translates into a successful design, with allowance made for the time you have to complete the painting. Learn how to load your brush, achieve strong, vibrant color, and paint without fear. Some familiarity with watercolor is recommended. In case of inclement weather we will move inside. Pastel Plein Air Workshop - The purest painting medium, soft pastels are vibrant and expressive. Learn how to reduce the complicated landscape to a simple, effective composition and block in a painting in a way that offers the most success in the limited time one has in an outdoor setting. A demonstration will begin the day focusing on design, massing, shadow, light, and atmosphere. All levels are welcome, however experience with pastels is recommended. We will move indoors in case of inclement weather. Confident Plein Air Painting (Oil & Acrylic Media) - The purest painting medium, soft pastels are vibrant and expressive.
