Dear Members:

Liz Rhoades picWelcome to our new website! I know you will enjoy navigating through it and seeing all of the new features! We think you will agree that this new site is user friendly and easy to navigate. It is also mobile device compatible. We now feature the paintings juried into our exhibitions on our Exhibition page, with all of the data about the works available to our website viewers. We will be including website links for our current members, making their contact information available to collectors. Please send your website address to our membership chair, Diana Rogers, to be included. On our Workshops page you will be able to see where your favorite Elected Artist Members are teaching and presenting demonstrations. Our Bulletin Board will feature lots of useful information, and we welcome your contributions. Please send them to us on our Contact page. Our new website is linked to our Facebook page, so you will always have all of the current CPAPS news whenever you visit our site.

Our next Paint Out will be March 20th at Joshua’s Trust, 624 Wormwood Hill Rd, Mansfield Center, CT 06250, www.joshuastrust.org. Meet up at 9:00 am for sign in and coffee. We will have special awards for the day’s work at 3:00 pm. Elected Artist members are encouraged to attend, to be in the pool for judging the work. We will pay the winning Elected Artist a $50 stipend to judge and critique the day’s artwork.  We have selected our paint out dates for this upcoming painting season. They are all on Sundays: March 20, April 3, May 1, May 29, June 12, July 10, August 7, September 11, October 2, and October 23. We are asking for your input on locales in the western part of the State. Please email me your ideas and we will consider them. We will be awarding big prizes for the best paintings done at our CPAPS paint outs at the next Juried Members Exhibition, so don’t miss these opportunities to paint with us!

Our Annual Juried Member’s Show at The Empty Spaces Project in Putnam was a huge success. Three paintings sold, and hundreds of visitors went through the gallery to view the work. We had positive feedback from everyone, and the general comment was that this viewing public had never seen a collection of such high quality fine art before. I am sure many future sales will be generated through this show. Thank you to everyone who assisted in the receiving, hanging, sitting, and take down of the exhibit.

We have selected the months for our next three exhibitions. Our Elected Artist Exhibition will be at Artisan’s Harbor in Old Saybrook in June. We will be opening up the application process for Elected Artist Member throughout the month of April and announcing acceptances in May. Go to our website to apply for Elected Artist Membership. Elected Artists will have a special page with links of their websites, images of recent work, and their biography on our new website, and will be eligible to judge artwork for prizes at our paint outs, be qualified to show in our Elected Artist Exhibitions, and have their workshops, demos, and classes advertised on our website. A requirement of eligibility is the acceptance into two Annual Members Juried Exhibitions.

We will have a Non Juried Membership Exhibition in November. Every member will be able to select one painting that will go into this show. There will be prizes, and we anticipate a very large body of work. The timing of this show will be during the Holiday Season, which we hope will generate sales.

Our next Annual Juried Membership Exhibition will take place in May, 2017. We are already beginning the process of selecting a juror and judge. Your recommendations will be considered, so please send them to me by March 30. We are investigating venues, as we want to keep rotating our exhibitions around the State. We welcome your suggestions.

Today it is going to be 70 degrees. I am writing feverishly so I can get outside and paint. I hear the birds singing away, and see the green of new growth on my lawn. Ahh, springtime. I look forward to painting with you!!
