Paint Out at Weir Farm
J. Alden Weir Farm, 735 Nod Hill Road Wilton, Connecticut 06897
MAY 29th. We will meet up at 9:00 am.
Our next paint out location will be Sunday, May 29, at J. Alden Weir Farm, 735 Nod Hill Road Wilton, Connecticut 06897. This is a plein air painter’s dream; a landscape chosen and developed as a painting site and retreat for the impressionist painters of the day. (Look up paintings of the Weir Farm area…amazing!)
This is a schedule change from Nathan Hale Homestead, because the farmer’s market (offering a petting zoo with enchanted children, tents, flags and flowers, in addition to the historic homestead), will not open until June 5th. Additionally, I want to include all regions of Connecticut, and. since June 11 is now scheduled to be in the Storrs/UCONN area, it makes sense to find our way to this National site dedicated to an American impressionist.
We will be directed to an auxiliary parking lot where we can carpool to the Farm to reduce the number of cars in a very small parking lot. Exact parking instructions will be posted on Facebook, and on our website. The Ranger at Weir Farm has offered a barn space with tables for those who want to bring their lunch, a good idea since the nearest grocery is quite far.
This paint out will be rain or shine. Beginning at 9:00, please check-in at our table inside the entrance to the farm. The prediction includes the possibility of showers, (of course), at this point later in the day, but who knows…. Since it won’t be less than 50 degrees (probably), and winds of more than 40 mph are not predicted, (hopefully), I’m assuming we can manage a sprinkle or two, after all, we are the painters who paint outdoors, so we should revel in the challenges nature brings our way….right? Sure!!
Pack your paints, easel, umbrella, lunch, sunscreen, visor and bug spray, and I’ll see you there!
PS, if anyone needs a ride I have space for two more in my hatchback, and if anyone else wants to carpool artists from your area, please post on our Facebook page.
