University of Saint Joseph, 1678 Asylum Avenue, West Hartford, CT 06117
Our first opportunity is realized in an invitation from the University of Saint Joseph in West Hartford to be part of their BioBlitz celebration on Saturday, April 21, by painting their landscape during the event. There is a large grasslands area at the edge of a wooded parcel, with a wetland pond or stream during spring. The University architecture is unique, and there will be lots of things to paint, including children, animals, and musicians. This venue combines science, environment, and art, giving our CPAPS painters much to get on board with.
Following is their information about the event:
On April 20-21, 2018, USJ will hold a 24-hour biological survey event (BioBlitz) involving scientists, taxonomic experts, naturalists, and the general public. Enjoy nature walks, a biological scavenger hunt, plein air painters, art demonstrations, music performances, and live animal presentations.
Additionally, the University is home to an art museum open from 11 AM to 4 PM that houses more than 2,000 works of art dating from the 15th century to the present, with particular strength in American paintings of the 20th century.
CPAPS will have a display table available inside for anyone wanting to bring a small painting with a table easel
I hope you will consider being part of this annual event, which promises not only a painting opportunity, but also a chance for entertainment and education.
