The Gwyn Careg estate is nestled upon 14 acres of manicured landscape, including a majestic enclosed Spanish Garden, century old specimen trees and rhododendrons, perennial gardens blooming every season, a courtyard surrounded by a picturesque 10 foot high Spanish stone wall, and a soothing, picturesque three-acre pond surrounded by open fields. The Inn itself is registered on the National Historic Registry.
This is the very best paint out location possible for this time of year. I have had the honor of painting this garden in every season of the year, and this is by far my favorite; the dogwoods are in full bloom, as are the many spring flowers. CPAPS painted here last year later in the season, and everyone was enthusiastic about returning. There is ample parking, though the restroom access will depend upon the owners being on the premises. If she is not, we can find facilities a mile or so down the road.
Note: any artists who have considered workshops gathering students from outside Connecticut might consider this venue, as it offers not just an inn, but literally dozens of painting locations within 5 miles.
Come paint with us Sunday the 20th of May and enjoy this beautiful location in the Quiet Corner of Connecticut.Paint Out Chair,
